Mereo and the OI Community

At Mereo, we actively engage with the osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) community representative organizations, such as the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Federation Europe (OIFE), their national member organizations, and the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OIF) in the U.S. This engagement enables us to meaningfully reflect the voices and perspectives of the OI community in our day-to-day work towards supporting potential new therapeutic options for OI.

As part of our ongoing engagement with the OI community, we regularly invite people representing OI organizations to come to our offices and share their perspectives with the Mereo team. You can read more about our most recent event to mark Rare Disease Day 2025.

Raising awareness on Wishbone Day

Every year, on May 6, people across the globe come together to mark Wishbone Day, an international awareness-raising day for OI. Since its creation in 2010, Wishbone Day has grown into a truly global initiative with contributions from more than 90 countries – always focusing on building understanding, rather than fundraising. Each year, the Mereo team proudly wears yellow to show our support for the community.

Collaborating to create the largest global survey of people living with OI

In 2021, Mereo initiated the development and delivery of the IMPACT Survey, a joint initiative with the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OIF) and the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Federation Europe (OIFE), together with their national member organizations. The survey, which was rolled out globally, has resulted in the largest dataset to date about the impact that OI has on people with the condition and on their families and caregivers. The data will be used to support future collaborative work to build better diagnosis, treatment, and care for people with OI.
