Director / Senior Director, Business and Corporate Development - London

  • Duration of post: Full Time
  • Salary range: Highly market competitive + according to experience + comprehensive benefits including bonus

  • Working hours: 35 hours per week, with some occasional out-of-office hours according to company needs
Purpose of the the Director / Senior Director, Business and Corporate Development

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, experienced, and motivated professional to join the team.  The role is of significant strategic relevance to the company with direct contact with partners and functions at all levels. A high level of enthusiasm, discretion, and ability to work in focused, cross functional teams is required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Analysis and planning for the commercial development for Mereo’s products. This will include analysis on competitive landscape, product pricing and positioning.
  • Manage identifying potential new product opportunities and lead in the due diligence of these opportunities and the development of the business case for these opportunities. This includes identification and management of external KOLs/advisors/consultants.
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of transaction documentation including licensing agreements, CDAs and MTAs.
  • Collaborate in the development and maintenance of partnerships and partnership agreements.
  • Build and maintain financial models as part of the Business and Commercial Development team These may be for individual product related opportunities, for different partnership models and economics or to provide valuation models for Mereo Biopharma.
  • Provide deal benchmarking support.
  • Prepare presentations for Business and Corporate Development and other general corporate purposes.
  • Collaborate with data room activities.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company with external organisations
  • To keep completely up to date with the competitive landscape for Mereo’s products.
  • Lead in the analysis of data from Mereo’s development pipeline for presentation to potential partners and analyse scientific and medical data for new product opportunities.
  • Attend conferences as appropriate.

The individual is expected to provide solutions to overcome challenges, take opportunities and make quick but measured decisions, seeking the input of others where necessary
Staying flexible as the organisation develops and as necessary taking responsibility for tasks which may not be core to the job description.

Essential  Desirable 
Education, Qualifications & Training
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Life Science degree or a related Masters or Doctorate degree desirable
  • Fluent in English 
Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the life sciences industry (either through Business development, corporate /commercial development, Life science consulting, Strategy, healthcare equity research, or healthcare investment banking)
  • Proven track record of leading both scientific and commercial assessment / due diligence projects
  • In-depth knowledge of building and maintaining detailed discounted cash flow models (incl. scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis)
  • Prior exposure to licensing/acquisition/alliance negotiations desirable

Education, Qualifications & Training
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be IT competent and have a knowledge of data protection associated with Mereo.
